TFT Patch 14.6b: Bug Fixes, Augment Reworks, Mythic Nerf

Riot Games has just dropped TFT Patch 14.6b on all live servers to address critical issues and hotfix a couple of features that were overwhelming Teamfight Tactics Set 11 players ahead of the scheduled Patch 14.7 release. The development team recognized the need to fix a couple of gamebreaking bugs that were causing complaints from the player community, along with rebalancing overperforming augments that were boosting a couple of Inkborn Fables traits to an unbeatable level. Riot is also nerfing the Mythic trait line, which lately has become nearly unstoppable.

Riot Games rolled out the b-patch to live TFT servers, incorporating a range of adjustments to boost gameplay stability and address the most prevalent issues. Here's a breakdown of the changes introduced in TFT Patch 14.6b:

Trait Adjustments

The Mythic trait has demonstrated to be way too powerful across various scenarios, particularly with champions like Kog’Maw, Bard, Tahm Kench, and Hwei. To address this, Riot Games opted to nerf the offensive stats of the Mythic trait, with adjustments to its AP/AD bonuses as follows:

  • Mythic AP/AD: 12/22/35/35 reduced to 10/20/32/32.

Augment Rebalancing

Several augments exhibiting disproportionate effectiveness have gotten adjustments in the initial balance patch for Teamfight Tactics Set 11. The aim is to rebalance compositions that have become overly dominant. Key augment changes include:

  • Built Different: Attack speed modifier lowered from 40–60% to 40–55%.
  • Neeko’s Drop Blossom: Heal increase adjusted from 25% to 35%.
  • Accomplice: Gold bonus halved from 8 to 4.
  • Epoch: One less free reroll provided.
  • Three’s a Crowd: Health reduction from 75 to 66.

For balance, Riot has also adjusted some specific augment effects:

  • Extended Duel (Duelist): Starting stacks reduced from 3 to 2.
  • Lucky Ricochet (Trickshot): Damage from extra bounce lowered from 50% to 40%.
  • Pumping Up III: Base Attack Speed boost decreased from 12% to 10%.

Stephen “Mortdog” Mortimer, Lead Game and Champion Designer for Teamfight Tactics, shed light on the reasons behind the limited changes implemented in Patch 14.6's Balance patch. Mortdog highlighted the urgency to address critical bugs and exploits quickly without significantly disrupting the evolving meta introduced by Set 11.

The TFT development team chose to focus primarily on augments, given their contained nature and the ease of balancing them independently of the broader set dynamics. Mythic adjustments were not too intense to avoid abrupt meta shifts, ensuring a balanced gameplay experience.

Bug Fixes

The primary objective of the b-patch was to rectify critical bugs that were undermining gameplay integrity. Noteworthy bug fixes include:

  • Resolving issues related to encounters in Hyper Roll mode to improve encounter diversity.
  • Fixing a bug where Hyper Roll encounters couldn't override Armory rounds, leading to Carousel encounters being predominantly chosen.
  • Addressing a bug causing Irelia to cease attacking after being crowd-controlled by Udyr's ability.

With the release of Patch 14.7, Riot Games also announced another balance-oriented package of changes that should refine the new and diverse meta that Set 11: Inkborn Fables introduced.

Riot Games committed to delivering a refined and enjoyable gameplay experience for Teamfight Tactics fans with the launch of TFT Patch 14.6b across all TFT servers.
